Im seriously interested in purchasing a used 2006 Maxima SL and after doing some research on reliability and safety for the 04-06 (only ones w/ 5sp auto) I found a recall regarding the rear subframe that could fail on the 06. It stated that dealers inspected

The bump in price doesn't only buy you more features, it also gets you a bigger Azera. Its 112-inch wheelbase is 3 inches longer than the previous model despite the fact that the overall length is the same at 193.3 inches. Front-seat passengers gain a substantial 2 inches in legroom for 45.5, but rear passengers take a small cut.

Headroom is similar to the outgoing Azera, but if you add the panoramic tilt-and-slide sunroof (included in the optional $4,000 Technology package), you'll lose a couple of inches off the top. But even a sunroof-equipped Hyundai is still roomier in both the front and rear than the ES 350, so all passengers enjoy generous seating.

During a weekend outing, we asked our rear-seat passengers for their thoughts. Both said the accommodations were perfectly acceptable, even if the seats themselves weren't the most comfortable. Any complaints were somewhat alleviated by the discovery of standard rear seat heaters and optional side window shades. Never doubt the importance of being both hot and cool in L.A.
