Komrowski was paroled on July 28, 2010, after pleading no contest in 2000 to armed assault and robbery charges, Kempe said. She added he was incarcerated again on Dec. 31, 2010, as a parole violator. Kempe did not have information about what triggered the parole violation.
Donnelly’s uncle, George Chaffee, said he does not know how his niece met Komrowski.
Donnelly’s family was calm while watching Komrowski’s brief arraignment. At his first court appearance, two men tried to approach Komrowski, but were restrained by court security before they could reach him.
Donnelly’s mother, Gladys Goon, said she felt numb.
“There’s a lot of hate,’’ she said.
Komrowski’s teary-eyed mother, Mary, 53, said her son is innocent. She added Komrowski has struggled since being struck by two cars as a child. She described his relationship with Donnelly as close.
“He’s been in jail all his life already,’’ Mary Komrowski said.
Prosecutors also allege that Komrowski stole Donnelly’s cell phone and her 1997 Nissan Maxima. He is due back in court on Jan. 23.
