Police: Car Slams Into Main Street Storefront
He was sent to the Hartford Hospital after his car collided with the front window of the Jackson Hewitt Tax Service at 922 Main St.
Police said that around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Officer Juma Jones, who was stationed in the area, heard a crash and saw the black Honda heading north on Main Street and driving on a flat tire.
As Jones was attempting to catch up to the car, police said, he saw the Honda smash into a parked tan Nissan Maxima, which was occupied by one person, on the east side of Main Street.
It then careened into the Jackson Hewitt front window, police said, and the driver fled the scene. Jones caught up with him after a 50-foot chase.
Jones also noticed that a pedestrian near the corner of Garvan and Main streets was injured.
The pedestrian told police that the black Honda had driven off the road and struck him in the right leg and left shoulder as he was attempting to jump out of the way.
Both the pedestrian and the occupant of the Maxima were taken to Hartford Hospital with minor injuries.
