A man in the 1100 block of Channing Way learned that the noise near his pickup truck that awakened him about 4 a.m. was the sound of its rear load-bearing rack being carted off.
Officers who went to arrest a man in the 1000 block of University on a no-bail warrant this morning experienced "a few tense moments" when he fled to his apartment balcony, but finally rounded him up along with a quantity of suspected stolen property found inside.
An apparently drunken man staggering through Willard Park at 10:10 a.m. was arrested.
Wednesday, Aug. 3
Two vehicles stolen July 31 from Fourth and Page streets — a white 2011 Ford Econoline 350 van and a white 2008 utility trailer — were recovered in Albany Village.
A 65-year-old Walnut Creek man left his motel room in the 900 block of University Avenue about 7:40 p.m. to buy a soda, closing the door but not locking it. When he returned, he found a middle-aged guy rummaging through his belongings on the bed. The thief fled, but was quickly found and arrested on suspicion of burglary and a probation violation.
