Gang fight leaves two beaten, bloody
20.05.16
Two reported members of a street gang sat on the sidewalk handcuffed, one with blood oozing out of gashes on the back of his head, the other's face cut up and with a possible broken nose.
As Corning police questioned the two men, Eric Sandoval, 23, and Gerardo Moreno, 22, both of Corning, around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, they claimed they were victims of a man in a white Nissan who had yelled gang-slang at them and then jumped them, attacking them with a tire iron.
"We believe this to be a gang fight between members of the Soreño and Norteño street gangs," said Corning police Detective Mel Allison.
It appears the altercation may have started when gang members in a white Nissan 240 yelled at Sandoval and Moreno on Solano Street in front of the Napa Auto Parts store.
The two vehicles sped eastbound down Solano turning right onto Marguerite Avenue and then right onto Marin Avenue, where both vehicles stopped. According to a witness, she stepped out of her house when her dog started barking and saw a white car parked on the north side of the road and a blue car parked in the middle of the road. She saw men coming out of both vehicles and start attacking each other with unknown weapons.
