Around 9:10 a.m. on August 7 an officer met with a Clarke County deputy in the 100 block of East Broad Street to a complaint of a recovered stolen vehicle. A citizen reported to the deputy that a 2005 Nissan Murano had been parked in the lot for hours with the lights on and engine running. The deputy made contact with a male sleeping in the vehicle and placed in him in investigative detention. An investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen by Danny and Brenda Norrod from Putnam County, Tennessee. A search of the vehicle revealed several drug related objects and a stolen iPad. That victim has not been identified. Russell Wade Norrod, 27, of Cookeville, TN, was arrested and charged with Theft by Taking, Theft by Receiving, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Giving False Information.
A 42-year old female reported a male walked up to her and pushed her over a booth at a Hawthorne Ave store and grabbed her between her legs. She pushed the offender to the floor and kicked him. He got up and left the store. The victim saw an officer in the check-out line and alerted him. He went out, located the offender, and detained him until an on-duty officer arrived. Ray Stanley Sutton, 51, Oak Grove Rd, was arrested and charged with Sexual Battery. This occurred around 1 p.m. on August 7.
